I'm Karishma Attar. At 14, I dreamed of building something of my own, of being an entrepreneur. My parents were excited and ready to back me with every bit of financial and moral support they could give. What we didn't have was someone to guide us to the right path.
Back then, the world around us spoke of only two real options: engineering or medicine, getting into the IITs through entrance exams. So they enrolled me in one of the top institutes for IIT preparation. But the more I sat through it, the more I knew it wasn't for me. I was drawn to management and entrepreneurship, and nothing in those classrooms resonated with who I was.
It cost my parents a heavy chunk of their hard-earned money, at a time when they were raising three daughters. That left me with one question I could never shake off: why didn't a genuine career counsellor exist for common families like mine?
